At the 5th Global Forum on Intellectual Property, a special student dialogue was held to discuss the topic “Invisible Fences – Navigating the Territorial Boundaries of IP in a Borderless World”. The dialogue focused on engaging law students to discuss how existing IP regimes and frameworks could be updated to work in the digital age.
As a follow-on from the student dialogue, an ASEAN Regional Essay Competition was also held to continue engaging students from ASEAN, and to draw out their thoughts and positions on the issue.
Open to all law undergraduates currently studying in universities in ASEAN, the competition asked the question – “Freedom of information is of paramount importance in the Internet age.” To what extent do you agree with this observation, in the light of existing IP regimes globally?”
